Hamidah (Gloria) Gadsden

Born in Puerto Rico, Shihan Hamidah is ranked 6th Dan as a student of Ninjutsu under Hanshi Ali Abdul-Karim. A martial arts practitioner for nearly 55 years, she began training in Shotokan Karate under Grandmasters George Cofield and Thomas “La Puppett ” Carrol at the infamous Tong Dojo.

She is a student of celebrated pioneers such as Dr. Moses Powell and his disciples Grandmasters Anthony Muhammad, Bill Mc Cloud and Soke Lil’ John Davis before continuing on to study with Dr. Powell’s teacher, Professor Florendo Visitacion.

A mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she embodies the seven virtues of Bushido as a loyal student of the martial arts, with a humble demeanor and way of life. Shihan Hamidah retired after serving 29 years as a nurturing and caring teacher to special needs children for the Board Of Education, City of New York. We are honored to have her join us.
